Department Description

The GSK Production System (GPS) serves as our foundation for achieving operational excellence by integrating Lean principles and fostering lasting improvements throughout our manufacturing sites and supply chains. As part of the supply chain transformation team, the GPS group supports the implementation of smart manufacturing, GPS strategies, and overall strategy development.

 

We work closely with cross-functional teams—including Quality, Production, Logistics, Engineering, and Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT)—to address challenges, optimize processes, and drive performance improvements. Throughout these initiatives, we apply Lean methodologies and advanced manufacturing practices to deliver impactful results.

Job Description

As a GSK Production System (GPS) Co-op, you will have the opportunity to work within GSK’s operations environment and contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the GSK Production System.

 

You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to support problem-solving, process optimization, and performance improvement projects, while gaining hands-on exposure to Lean methodologies and advanced manufacturing practices. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated student to learn and grow within a global organization committed to delivering high-impact solutions.

 

The selected candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Support GPS initiatives by conducting data analysis, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing solutions to optimize processes.
  • Assist in the deployment of Lean tools and techniques, such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to identify and resolve operational challenges.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to GPS projects, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, and training materials.
  • Engage in project planning and execute to support the delivery of GPS initiatives on time and within scope.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering, Science, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or similar disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and manipulate data effectively.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 6-month co-op (January ~ June 2026).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Lean principles and methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position. 
  • GSK Interns and Co-ops are offered a competitive hourly pay rate and benefits. Please note, benefits eligibility determined the month following date of hire.
  • This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.

    In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.

    • Pay Rate Range: $21/hr to $40/hr
