GSK Oncology Clinical Dev R&D to be based in Waltham, Massachusetts during Summer of 2025.

 

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), a global leader in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic college student to work within its Oncology Clinical Development Division as a Summer Intern. Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Oncology Clinical Development Division to explore and identify useful applications for various GSK AI platforms, including Copilot, Jules, and GIGI, in the context of oncology R&D.
  • Conduct research and analysis to understand the potential of AI tools in enhancing, oncology clinical trial design, daily tasks for the POLQi team and other teams within GSK’s Oncology Clinical Development Division, GSK cancer drug development processes, data analysis, and decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of AI-driven solutions to address key challenges in oncology research.
  • Evaluate the performance and impact of AI applications on existing workflows and propose improvements.
  • Participate in select team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas for integrating AI technologies into oncology projects.
  • Explain the optimal use and value of various AI applications to the Oncology Clinical Development Division and observe their daily application in clinical cancer research.
  • Prepare and present findings, reports, and recommendations to the Oncology Clinical Development Division and other stakeholders.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and oncology research to inform project development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a Freshman, Sophomore or Junior with interests in AI, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines.
  • Basic understanding of AI technologies and their applications in scientific research.
  • Willingness to work in Waltham or Cambridge, Massachusetts for the duration of the internship.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 12-week internship (May/June - August 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interest in computing, cancer drug development, and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Interest in the following: AI, Computer Science, or Bio-informatics.
  • Ability to handle independent projects.
  • Have some familiarity with ChatGPT.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced research environment.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position. 
  • GSK Interns and Co-ops are offered a competitive hourly pay rate and benefits. Please note, benefits eligibility determined the month following date of hire.
  • This job posting is for a temporary role as an employee of Atrium on assignment at GSK. The individual selected for this role will be offered the role as an employee of Atrium; compensation, medical benefits, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment shall be presented by Atrium upon offer. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.

    In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirement.

    • Pay Rate Range: $21/hr to $40/hr
