Carrier Unit 1 is a group within the Microbial Drug Substance team, part of the Vaccines Technical Research and Development (TRD) group. Carrier Unit 1 supports the upstream process development for fusion proteins that are involved in the new MAPS technology (Multiple Antigen Presenting System). The team focuses on recombinant protein expression in bacterial systems and is responsible for the fermentation development, scale up testing and tech transfer to manufacturing.
As a co-op within the Carrier Unit group, you will integrate with a multidisciplinary team in charge of fermentation and purification of recombinant proteins. You will be in close contact with experts in upstream, downstream and various analytical technologies. Your mission will be focused on the development of scalable fermentation processes to support recombinant protein production in bacterial systems. This role will work with small scale reactors to test, model and evaluate process scalability.
