This role is in the department of Discovery Biology and Screening (DBS). As part of early drug discovery at GSK, DBS applies various technologies to identify and profile novel small molecules, antibody-drug conjugates, and oligonucleotides for a variety of diseases and target biology.
Biological systems consist of heterogeneous cell types, each with diverse functions and functional states. This complexity has resulted in the development of methods/platforms capable of deeply profiling cellular features. This internship is an exciting opportunity to learn foundations of cell biology in early drug discovery and gain exposure to multiple different areas of biology. A co-op student will work side by side with GSK scientists to design and execute a variety of high content platforms applied to diverse disease indications. There will be a specific focus on high throughput transcriptomics and single cell techniques (CyTOF), with an emphasis on expanding existing capabilities to increase translational relevance. Student will also enhance critical thinking, problem solving and presentation skills. This is an on-site, lab-based role.
