This Co-op will be a part of the Immunology and Cellular Analytics, Analytical Research and Development department at the Rockville Center of Vaccine Research.

Job Description

This is a one-year Co-op position for bioassay development for vaccines against virus-caused infectious disease. This position will be responsible for participating in the development of analytical methods in the bioassay area to support process development, manufacturing, and product understanding of new candidate mRNA or protein vaccines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cell Biology or related disciplines.
  • Previous cell culture and transfection experiences in BSL-2 and BSL-2+ lab.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the 12-month co-op (June 2024 ~ May 2025).
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiences with infectious disease and worked with infectious virus such as Dengue virus, Zika virus, SARS-CoV-2, et al.
  • Experiences with Virus Neutralization Assays, Western Blot and Molecular Cloning techniques including PCR and DNA extraction and purification.
  • Skilled in PRISM analysis.

  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date.
